I can’t believed what I read in some news today that the fireworks shown in the opening ceremony of olympic 2008 at Beijing were faked or computer generated.

“What they did not realise was that what they were watching was in fact computer graphics, meticulously created over a period of months and inserted into the coverage electronically at exactly the right moment.”[link]

“London’s Telegraph newspaper reports that some of the fireworks which appeared over Beijing during the television broadcast of the Olympic Opening Ceremony were actually computer generated. But — hold on — it’s not necessarily as bad as you think.

The faked fireworks were actually set-off at the stadium, but because of potential dangers in filming the display live from a helicopter, viewers at home were shown a pre-recorded, computer-generated shot. It sounds dishonest, but I’m not sure it’s such a terrible thing.” [link]

But for me, either it was faked or not, I still loved what I saw, it was really wonderfu! They made an amazing performance. 🙂
